About the customer:
The research group is called Network Applications and Services – Covilhã, with the acronym NAS-Cv.This research group is part of the Telecommunications Institute. The research group is made up of three professors from the Department of Computer Science at UBI (eligible members) and many undergraduate, master's and doctoral students. The Network Applications and Services - Covilhã (NAS-Cv) group intends to conduct cutting-edge research and experimental development in the following areas: distributed applications, microservices architecture and serverless computing, cloud computing, edge computing, mobile computing, engineering and quality software, gamification and reputation, applied artificial intelligence, internet of things, computer networks, information security, security by design and construction and distributed systems.

The research group described above simultaneously created the Secure and Intelligent Networked Software Systems (SINS-Lab) laboratory. This laboratory serves as a base of operations for the research group. Since parts of the laboratory's focus are the reliability and security of systems and software, a laboratory certification seal has been developed. The lines that describe the laboratory's scope of action are as follows: security requirements engineering, description and validation of IT security applications and protocols, systems testing and analysis, research, prototyping and testing of software solutions for the ecosystem of the Internet of Things, fog, cloud and mobile computing, artificial intelligence applied to the management, security and optimization of networks and systems.

About the visual identity:
From the beginning, the aim was to represent the activity of the research group and laboratory and create interconnected identities. As the area is computer science, we decided to represent it through symbols that allude to the code and the coding activity. For this, we use the symbols {} and / due to their use in different languages; such as HTML, CSS, Pthon, C#, C++, Javascript, Php, and Java. In the research group symbol, we use only three / of these to represent the letters “nas” and in the laboratory symbol we use four to represent the four letters “sins”. The colour chosen was blue to convey an image of confidence. The typeface chosen was “Objektiv” due to its more futuristic style and symmetrical and geometric format, alluding to information technology and exact sciences.
